My first French interview was with Guillaume Bassard who is a recreational player for BCUS Saint Léonard (87). The starting questions were how many members are in his club and what the age ranges were and if these categories each had training sessions. He said that they have around 150 members in his club with a variety of different categories such as Under 7s, U9, U11 Females, U11 Males, U13F, U13M, U15F, U15M, U18F, U18M, U21M, 3x3 and recreational. With each of these teams getting their own training sessions.

Then I asked about their fixture habits. He said that every team, except 3x3 and the recreational team, are a part of the FFBB championship at regional level, they are also part of the Ligue Nouvelle Aquitaine and Comité de la Haute-Vienne with weekly matches.

Continuing with the interview, I asked about their facilities, whether they liked them and what improvements, if any, could be made. He said that they train in two different locations: Gymnase de St Léonard, which has one court, and Halle des Sports de St Léonard, which has two courts. They are mostly happy with their facilities. The Gymnase de St Léonard was recently renovated, however the other location could do with some improvements as it is a bit dilapidated.

Next, I asked about the coaches, he said that there are 12 coaches, some with qualifications, that trains each of the different teams.

Finally, I asked about the financing of the team and France's involvement in encouraging young people to play basketball. He said that the club is financed with city grants, local sponsors and memberships, putting the club in a good financial state. He noticed a difference in young people starting to play basketball as he mentioned that there has been some progress recently mainly due to the exposure that the national French team has had and also due to the new French players in the NBA. He also commented that to improve the number of young people playing basketball, he said that France could increase the visibility of the French championship by televising it.
